Wenner-Gren Foundations offer apartments for foreign guest researchers working at institutions in Stockholm. The Center is situated close to the city center as well as to the University of Stockholm, the Royal Academy of Sciences, the Karolinska Institute, the Karolinska Hospital, the Royal Institute of Technology and the Stockholm School of Economics.
Due to the very long waiting list for tenancy at Wenner-Gren Center Guest Researchers' Apartments the Foundations can only accept applications from visiting guest scientists (full-time) with a PhD-degree. The Foundations cannot accept applications from students.
Please note that the lease of the apartment is dependent on your research position in Sweden. If your employment/scholarship ends, the lease of the apartment will terminate at the same time. Only guest scientists who have a research position at a host institution for at least 6 months from the start of the lease date are eligible. Guest scientists that already have a permanent accommodation in the Greater Stockholm Region are not eligible for an apartment offered by the Wenner-Gren Foundations.
Applications must be submitted either before arriving in Sweden or within six months of arrival. Link to the application form is found below.
Available apartments are from a studio with kitchenette to four rooms and a kitchen. The apartments are fully furnished. Utilities like heating, water, electricity and broadband are included in the rent. Almost all apartments have a balcony or a small patio. The Wenner-GrenFoundations assume the right to decide which size of apartment to offer depending upon family situation.
We do not allow pets.
Please note: As there is a constant demand for lodging it is important that visiting researchers plan their stay at Wenner-Gren Center Guest Researchers' Apartments well in advance (up to 30 months) of their expected arrival.
Inquiries and reservations can be made with the reception desk at the address below (please do not send letters as "registered mail", they will be returned to the sender unopened). Applications must be sent by e-mail or post.
